President's Message

Board Shuffle and Call for Nominees

Greetings Everyone,

Winter has been long, and I don’t know about everyone else, but I am sure looking forward to spring! I wanted to let the club know that we’ve had some shuffling of the Board of Directors. Steve Methot our PRM, whom most of you know serves in the RCAF has been sent overseas for a 6-month deployment. Steve’s contributions and commitment over the year have been excellent and I wanted to extend my thanks. We are looking forward to him returning home safely and having a few hangar beers! Tom Stiff has graciously offered to take on PRM duties for which I am very appreciative. The Board of Directors contact page has been updated to reflect this change.

I wanted to again extend my thanks to the volunteer Board of Directors team, who without their time and dedication the administration of the club would not be possible. We are coming up to April which means the AGM. We are looking for club members to participate and volunteer to be on the Board of Directors. I want to emphasize once again that this club cannot operate without dedicated volunteers and we need your help! Please reach out if you have any interest in serving with the board. Click here to go to the nomination form.

Maintenance

A quick update on the maintenance front. PDW just underwent an oil change. As we get closer to engine overhaul we will be doing oil changes every 25 hours to more closely monitor. Details are being finalized however, please expect some downtime as early as April for the overhaul process. Details will be communicated to the membership when available.

In closing please consider running for the 2019 Board of Director’s, many hands make light work!

Safe Flying,

Spring is coming... eventually!

Hi Everyone!

Well the weather is starting to improve and plus temperatures are coming in a week or so. In the meantime, please be very cautious of the slippery surface around the hangar, ramp, and taxiways. Also remember that the winch is available in the rear of the hangar to assist in putting PDW back into the hangar. If you do use the winch and the remote, please remember to turn the remote off when finished. This will extend the battery life.

Events and Announcements

Our March meeting will be held on the 16th at 1000 in the banquet room at The Hangar Bar and Grill. This meeting is going to feature “Everyone’s Favourite Aviation YouTube”. Send me the title to your favourite approximate 2-7 minute clips and I’ll put a 60 minute compilation together. As always, everyone is encouraged to head to the dining room for lunch following our get together.

The 2019 AGM will be held April 20th. I feel it’s important for all members to attend and contribute opinions, ideas, time, and votes. A small effort from many makes for a healthy club.

July 20th will be the date for our 2nd annual COPA for Kids event. Last year was a prime example of what great things teamwork can achieve! Let’s try and build on our great initial success.

I hope to see everyone on the 16th! Cheers,

Grant Lloyd
Events & Social Director
