Message from the President

They say that it is amazing how time flies! Well, I cannot believe that we are already celebrating the 1st anniversary with PDW. She is just back fresh from her 1st annual with the club, which cleared up outstanding legacy issues. The goal has always been to bring PDW up to the high standards that we set for CMQ. We are well on our way to achieving that goal.

This winter has been brutally harsh when it comes to good flying days, but as I look out the window at another sunny day, the 3rd in a row, I am re-assured that this winter cannot last forever and that great flying days are soon to be ahead.

A reminder that the nomination form will be live in March for those interested in running for the Board of Directors. I encourage all members to consider running for the Board, and actively help assist in the future governance and support of the Club.

January's Meeting Wrap-up

For those who couldn't make it

Last month's meeting was, by all accounts, an overwhelming success. In fact it was standing room only with over 40 people in attendance!! Why? Members from the Borden Flying Club, a contingent from the Edenvale Classics, and numerous friends of members came out on a snowy, blustery, evening to hear Dave Hadfield share his recollections of a Soyuz launch from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. With the help of Bryan Quickmire and Robin Hadfield spreading the word, Borden not only filled the meeting room, we also overwhelmed the restaurant with 25 guests for dinner.

As the evening progressed Dave shared personal anecdotes and dozens of photos of his time with Chris, Robin, and their families in Russia; he even played a song from one of his albums.

A big thank you to everyone who participated in the meeting, and to Laura and the crew at Bistro 26, for making it a fantastic evening all-round. See you all February 20th.

February Club Meeting

Thursday February 20th

Ewan Tasker

Make it a point to come out to Bistro 26 for February's club meeting. Our guest speaker for the evening is Mr. Ewan Tasker, Regional Senior Investigator, with the Transportation Safety Board. With his background as both a pilot and an accident investigator, Ewan's talk is sure to give us all a moment to think about what each of us can do to help promote safe flying within our club. As usual, the meeting starts at 7 p.m. and inevitably some members will show up early for dinner in the restaurant. See you there!
